Shortly describe your project
At our elementary school, we organize a public seedling SWAP: students grow plants from seeds, share them, add sustainable recipes, and learn not to waste. Anyone can come.
We believe that a small seed can grow not only into a plant, but also into an idea, cooperation, and joy.
For the third year in a row, we are organizing a school seedling SWAP, in which all students from grades 1 to 9 participate. Everyone grows their own plant from a seed—most often a vegetable—and on the day of the event, they exchange or donate it to anyone. This teaches children to share, cooperate, understand the value of nature, and take responsibility.
This year, we added QR codes with recipes that the students tried themselves to show how crops can be used without waste. There was also a new stand prepared in cooperation with the Save Food initiative, where children could make healthy vegetable spreads and discover new flavors.
Swap connects growing, cooking, and modern technology, as well as cooperation between older and younger classes, helping others, and showing that sustainability can be fun, inspiring, and tasty. Our goal is to strengthen students' relationship with food and nature, encourage creativity, and show that even small steps can lead to big changes.
