At the Vrhnika Kindergarten, Barjanček branch, we celebrated World Water Day on March 23, 2026.

For the children in the second age group, our staff prepared various workshops designed to raise the children’s awareness of the importance of water—especially drinking water—in an exploratory, fun, and educational way. The activities were based on nature-related learning objectives: for children to learn about and experiment with the properties of water and to taste different types of water. The children participated in various workshops: they poured water using different tools, explored what floats and what doesn’t, tasted water cocktails and sparkling water, played with soap bubbles, and relaxed during guided meditation while listening to the sounds of water. Through experiential learning, the children developed curiosity, an exploratory approach, and a positive attitude toward water. We placed special emphasis on the awareness that drinking water is a precious resource that we must protect and respect. The activity was very well received by the children, as they happily participated, explored, and gained new insights. We believe that through these workshops, we have successfully contributed to the development of early environmental awareness in children.
