Shortly describe your project

At our school, it is standard practice to always use porcelain dishes and glasses for healthy snacks, parties, after-school care, and other occasions. No disposable cutlery!

The children drink school milk and cocoa from cups (which are recycled), and we do not use straws at all.

The children must always bring an empty lunchbox so that leftovers from lunch, the healthy snack, etc., can be sent home whenever possible, eliminating the need for packaging materials.

In art class and in technology and design, students regularly create something creative and appealing from “plastic waste,” and the value of plastic as a resource is taught.

Together with Winkler Schulbedarf, the team at VS Sallingberg has developed eco-friendly notebook covers (Testudo) and labels for student notebooks, which are distributed by Winkler Schulbedarf.

At our school, great importance is placed on precise waste separation. As part of the school renovation, we also developed a very simple waste separation system with the furnishing company and implemented it in our classrooms.
Instead of new plastic carpets, we purchased beautiful, large, used “Persian rugs” at a low cost for special areas in the school and had them professionally cleaned. They look wonderful in the rooms.

At our school, there are no plastic tables or chairs for the students; instead, we have exclusively beechwood tables and chairs from a company in Prinzersdorf.
