Shortly describe your project

The Alexander-von-Humboldt Gymnasium is committed to reducing plastic waste by implementing the following measures at the school: • Two water dispensers for students’ own water bottles help reduce single-use plastic bottles • AvH lunchboxes for all 5th graders help reduce packaging waste • Waste separation in all classrooms • A “fast fashion” art project in the upper school • Participation in the e-waste race (twice) to collect electronic waste in the neighborhood and once in the Textile Race (placing third among Hamburg schools both times) • Refillable whiteboard markers save a lot of plastic markers • Office supplies made from renewable raw materials in our student-run company (e.g., set squares, glue sticks, refillable Tipp-Ex) • NEW: Recup cups reduce the use of disposable cups and plastic lids.
