Shortly describe your project

In 2019, our school became one of the first in Slovenia to become a Water School. At that time, we set ourselves the goal of offering only water during regular school meals and encouraging students to drink water. As a donation from the Škocjan Caves Park Network, all pupils and employees received a metal water bottle. Since then, we have not been buying plastic bottles for school snacks when pupils go on field trips, but instead the pupils bring water in their own bottles. Over the past seven years, we have certainly reduced the amount of plastic bottle waste—at least 500 bottles per year, or around 3,500 in seven years, which is a very large number. This is, of course, an approximate figure, as we no longer buy bottled water at school, nor do we use disposable containers on any occasion.
